After returning to college at the age of 28, Joan recevied a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Photography from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia in 2003. While attending the University she was one of the founding members of Gallery One, the first student gallery in the history of the University, interned at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops and received the 2003 Student Leadership Award. In 2005 Joan earned her Masters of Professional Studies in Arts and Cultural Management from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY.
Her photographs have been shown in galleries and art centers in Pennsylvania, California, New Mexico, Maryland and Manhattan. One of her photographs is included in the photography collection at the Woodmere Art Museum, Philadelphia. In 2007 she was awarded the Print Guild Award given by David Shane, Mural Artist, at the Cheltenham Center for the Arts' Membership Show. Joan to create as a photographer and mixed-media artist in Roslyn, PA a suburb of Philadelphia.
